Georgia 2018 (Day 2) - Continuation within the City- 26 Apr 2018

After visiting the Uplistsikhe Cave Town, if we wished we would go to Tbilisi Mall.   It is one of the biggest mall in Georgia.

why not !!! in fact we wished to see the complete Georgia, which is not possible.

On our way to the city area, we would see the below :

The Tbilisi mall, is pretty large mall.  But being UAE residents this was not an attraction to us.  we hardly spend an hour inside the mall .

we boarded the bus, and requested the driver and guide to drop us at Rustaveli  Street.  We walked down the streets and enjoyed a good dinner from Maharaja Restaurant.  Oh God ... having Indian food was such a bliss.

Pictures from the street & Maharaja Rest.  After dinner, we wandered round.  we were tired but still this did not stop us exploring the city.

we went back to the hotel for a sound sleep and wake up fresh for the next day.  As my daughter said we had a roller coaster ride to hotel. [ "The Taxis", are no lesser than the roller coaster; so next time in Georgia, Sit back and enjoy a roller coaster ride]

After our visit at Svetitskhoveli Complex, our next point was the cave town.  Some view from our way to the Cave Town.

The time has already passed 1pm and we need to have lunch.  On our way to the Cave Town we had a good lunch.  The ambiance at the restaurant was quite good though it does not felt good from the exterior view.  The restaurant from where we had lunch.

Uplistsikhe, literally meaning "Fortress of God".  It is the city carved out of rock, one of the oldest settlements of the Caucasus. It is one of the oldest urban settlements in Georgia. As a layman, we can notice worship patterns prior to arrival of Christianity. The ancient cave town is divided into three parts: a lower, middle, and upper section.   It is beyond my imagination how people have lived there thousands of years ago and how they have met their requirements.

Kids enjoying a good time while we are waiting for entry tickets.
Outside the Cave, Wine bottles for sale
We need to climb a number of steps to reach the top. Some part are quite steep but we were able to have a great view from the top.  we can see the river Mtkvari.

Our team, one by one started to climb the stairs

View from the Top of the Cave:

There are various chambers inside the Cave.

I felt this is very much similar to Shiva Linga

The River

Being an Hindu, I felt this is very much similar to Shiva Linga

The Basilica at the top of the Cave

View from the Cave Top

We had a spectacular view of the Cave town, and we walked down to rest at the Cave Park

It was time to say good bye to the Cave town; Here we go from this oldest Urban settlement in Georgia.

For Today the last destination was the Tbilisi Mall, which is one of the largest mall in Georgia
